First Trip to the Dentist

OK-so we're horrible parents, we've never taken our kids to the dentist. We have all sorts of excuses (we don't have dental insurance, we don't want to spend the money, i'm afraid of the dentist, my old dentist is too far away, etc...) to have not taken the girls to the dentist before now. But, when I took them in for their annual well-child check up at the pediatrician, she gave me a bit of a lecture about taking the girls to the dentist and pointed out that Peyton clearly had a cavity in her back molar. So, I decided enough was enough, Matt and I had to put all of our dental issues behind us, and I made an appointment for Birkley & Peyton to go to the dentist. We decided to take them to our dentist neighbor, after the girls said they would like to see him. Their first dental experience went great and their best friends, daughters of the dentist, were even there for moral support. The girls were awesome, no tears shed, Birkley even "lost" her tooth in the chair!

Peyton in the chair

Turns out Peyton had a pretty bad cavity. I took her back a week later for her filling with my mother-in-law in tow, to sit with here while she got her cavity taken care of. I obviously have major dentist issues that I didn't realize were so bad until I thought of my own child in the chair getting drilled. So, I'm a woosy mom who sat in the lobby while my mother-in-law sat with Peyton! Peyts did great, no crying, no numbing. WOW! She's my hero!
