Small Hands Tell Sweet Stories

Tonight, for the first time in a long time, I laid in bed with Birkley & Peyton as they fell asleep. (They both sleep on the bottom bunk, which is a full-size bed, because neither one wants to sleep on the top bunk) Birkley usually doesn't want to cuddle, Peyton is the cuddler, but tonight Birkley just wanted to hold my hand as she fell asleep. Her hand seemed so big and I just sat thinking a lot about how much Birkley (and Peyton for that matter) have grown up. Her hand used to be so small and my hand would completely engulf hers. Tonight, our fingers intertwined and I just wanted to stop time. It's so cliche to hear people say, "they grow up before you know it...in the blink of an eye...", but it's so true. Birkley has grown up so quickly. She is growing up so quickly. Her hands tell sweet stories of all the fun things she's done in life so far and talk of sweet stories of the future and the young woman she will become. It gets me in my gut. But those hands are gorgeous, they are a miracle from God and I am grateful.

Look at little Miss Birkley

Look at her now...

I know exactly what you mean. i had thoughts along the same lines lately. I really would LOVE for time to stand still.

I couldn't agree with you more...they do grow up fast! I am having a hard time thinking about when they were babies!
